The Meadowlands Research and Restoration Institute has expanded its field research capabilities with the acquisition of a new 1240 Lowe research vessel equipped with a 6.5 horsepower Beaver Dam long tail mud motor. The new vessel was fully assembled by MRRI staff and is designed specifically for navigating shallow waters, mudflats, and difficult-to-access wetland environments throughout the Meadowlands region.
The addition of the specialized research boat will support ongoing environmental monitoring, habitat restoration, water quality assessments, and ecological studies in areas previously inaccessible to larger vessels. Its lightweight design and mud motor system allow researchers to safely and efficiently reach remote marsh habitats while minimizing disturbance to sensitive ecosystems.
This vessel demonstrates the institute’s commitment to hands-on innovation in support of its environmental research mission. The new boat is expected to enhance field operations and provide expanded access for scientific studies critical to the preservation and restoration of Meadowlands wetlands and wildlife habitats.
