Mission
To protect the delicate balance of nature by conserving and restoring the Meadowlands’ natural resources for current and future generations using innovative approaches and solutions based in science, collaboration and respect for all the communities and interests involved.
Objectives
- Monitor and acquire wetland areas and other natural habitats and assist in conserving the district's existing wetlands and natural open spaces.
- Continuously monitor the water quality, water level, air quality, and sediment elevation and quality in the lower Hackensack.
- Improve our understanding of the estuary's ecological functioning and prepare for climate change.
- Collaborate with other landowners, managers, and nonprofit organizations to preserve, restore, and protect wetlands in the area.
