Fisheries Resource Inventory
Fisheries Resource Inventory
Between August 2001 and September 2003, the NJMC/MRRI conducted a fish inventory of the Hackensack River and some of its larger tributaries. Four different gear types were used to make the fishery collections. Fishery collections and water quality data were recorded from a total of 21 sampling locations. Each location was sampled monthly during the first year (August 2001 to July 2002), and seasonally during the second year (October 2002 to September 2003). A total of 480 collections were made. The data collected during the 2002-2003 investigation was compared to a similar fish inventory conducted during 1987-1988 by the HMDC. During the 1987-88 study, a total of 433 collections were made, at the same sampling locations, using the same type of sampling gear.
